The Phlebotomist II shall perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques from patients of all age groups following Ballad Health standard operating procedures. Site-dependent, this position's responsibilities may also include processing of chain of custody collections, sweat chloride collections, therapeutic phlebotomies, throat, and NP specimen collections.
The Phlebotomist may be assigned to provide phlebotomy services in patient care areas outside of the hospital such as regional cancer centers, nursing homes, physician offices, and community health fairs, and to perform related clerical duties as needed. The Phlebotomist may also be responsible for performing CLIA-waived testing as assigned. Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of Ballad Health patient safety and patient information security is essential.
As requested, the Phlebotomist serves as a laboratory representative in various quality assurance and performance improvement work groups and committees. The individual shall participate in training new team members as required and be responsible for additional duties as assigned.

An equivalent of three years of phlebotomy experience is required. Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients and their families. Valid and active phlebotomist certification is required. BLS certification is also required.
