Job summary

Cone Health Medical Group is seeking a Phlebotomist II to collect and process high-quality blood specimens, ensure accurate patient identification, and support timely diagnostic results under direct supervision.

The role maintains supplies, updates lab records in hospital systems, and assists physicians by delivering reliable patient care. Education includes a high school diploma; preferred accredited phlebotomy program and BLS/CPR certification.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Preferred completion of an Accredited Phlebotomy program.
• BLS (CPR) certification required; ASCP/ASPT/NHA options acceptable.
• Current licensure as MT/MLT or Advanced EMT/Paramedic may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Collect high-quality blood specimens and maintain iSTAT competency for POC testing where applicable.
• Ensure precise patient identification with minimal labeling errors and zero misidentified patients.
• Facilitate effective communication during shift transitions to ensure continuity of care.
• Maintain phlebotomy supplies, including baskets, carts, workspace and devices for efficient procedures.
• Perform regular cart checks to keep supply areas clean, organized and stocked daily.
• Document lab activity using hospital systems to meet turnaround times and support tracking of specimens.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
