Qualifications

• Basic Life Support certification preferred.
• Minimum of one year phlebotomy experience in a lab, ambulatory, or healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens using proper techniques per hospital and regulatory standards.
• Accurately label samples and route to correct laboratory for processing.
• Maintain an efficient lab schedule and accurate patient orders.
• Manage inventory by monitoring supplies and restocking as needed.
• Explain blood draw procedures to patients to ensure comfort and engagement.
• Communicate with clinical staff regarding patient needs and specimen concerns.
• Identify and escalate changes in patient condition to clinical personnel.
• Operate point-of-care testing equipment and perform requested EKGs safely.
• Document all patient interactions and specimen data per procedures.
• Follow emergency and safety protocols to ensure a safe patient environment.
• Prepare charts in advance of lab appointments and verify lab matches insurance practice site standards.
• Review orders and adapt according to patient insurance or practice standards.
