Summary

The Phlebotomist II performs venous and capillary blood collection, may perform EKGs, waived and moderate complexity testing under supervision, and pre-employment drug screens. The role includes supporting laboratory services, monitoring work lists, and performing assays for ABG and COOX samples with appropriate supervision. Certification in a phlebotomy registry is required.

Responsibilities
  1. Consult with healthcare providers and patients regarding phlebotomy services.
  2. Ensure the quality and accuracy of work.
  3. Investigate issues with equipment, results, specimens, and workflow.
  4. Participate in teams or special projects as assigned.
  5. Train and teach new employees, students, and healthcare providers.
  6. Review test results for accuracy and report to healthcare providers.
  7. Perform phlebotomy procedures, quality control, and equipment maintenance.
  8. Complete daily tasks and monitor laboratory operations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an approved Phlebotomy training program.
  • Registered as a Phlebotomist through ASCP or ASPT.
