Job summary

Nash UNC Health Care in North Carolina is seeking a Phlebotomist II to perform venous and capillary blood collection, conduct EKGs and basic lab tests under supervision. Will monitor LIS work lists and may perform ABG/COOX assays under supervision. Requires phlebotomy certification.

The role supports multiple counties and emphasizes quality, accuracy, and patient care in a hospital laboratory setting with a night shift schedule.

Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent.
Graduate of an approved training program in Phlebotomy.
Registered as a Phlebotomist through ASCP or ASPT.

Responsibilities

Consults/confers with healthcare providers/patients regarding patient care as it relates to phlebotomy service issues.
Ensures quality and accuracy of work.
Investigates problems with equipment, patient results, specimens and/or workflow.
May participate on teams or perform special projects/assignments.
May perform teaching and training of new employees, phlebotomy students and/or other healthcare providers.
May review test results to ensure accuracy of reporting and timely correction of errors or report results to healthcare providers.
Performs phlebotomy procedures, quality control and equipment maintenance in the appropriate laboratory.
Responsible for and/or ensures completion of daily work and assigned tasks. Monitors daily operation of laboratory work area.
