Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau, WI, is seeking a Phlebotomist II to join our team! PM Shift

The Phlebotomist II works under limited supervision and follows established policies and procedures to perform tasks involved with the proper collection, labeling, and distribution of biological specimens for laboratory testing from patients of all ages. This person is also responsible for utilizing relevant computer programs, performing data entry, and canceling, and crediting tests.

HOURS: 0.8 FTE (64 hours per pay period). PM shifts (12:00-8:30 pm, 1:00-9:30 pm, 1:30-10:00 pm, 2:30-11:00 pm, 3:00-11:30 pm), every 3rd weekend, and 2 holidays per year.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with successful completion of a phlebotomy training course or equivalent experience.
  • Beneficial: Completion of a phlebotomy program or related healthcare training (MA, CNA, EMT).
  • Courses in EKG basic interpretation beneficial.
  • Experience in phlebotomy, healthcare, or related laboratory work beneficial.
  • Computer skills beneficial.
  • Customer service and telephone communication experience beneficial.
  • Certification as a Phlebotomist by a national agency (e.g., ASCP, NCA) or related field certification that includes phlebotomy training beneficial.
  • Demonstrates a pleasant, congenial, and diplomatic personality with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Current BLS certification may need to be obtained; all clinical personnel are required to maintain BLS training through independent study, manikin, and knowledge testing, following the American Heart Association or American Red Cross standards.
