The ideal candidate will have venipuncture experience, be able to follow specimen handling protocols, and demonstrate strong record-keeping and customer-service skills. The position is a full-time contract with potential for conversion based on performance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 6 months of hands-on venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Approximately 2-4 years of experience as listed in the job requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws and venipuncture using straight and butterfly needles.
• Collect and handle blood and other specimens as required.
• Explain procedures clearly and courteously to patients.
• Label, centrifuge, split, freeze, and store specimens per procedures.
• Match requisitions with tubes and verify orders for accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport and maintain proper storage temperatures.
• Update patient information and maintain accurate records.
• Record equipment maintenance and perform decontamination as required.
• Follow OSHA, DEP, and other safety procedures.
• Answer calls and respond to inquiries, including reading results when appropriate.
• Attend required annual departmental training.
• Assist with troubleshooting, workflow recommendations, and training as assigned.
