Job description

Title: Phlebotomist II

Location: Newton Sparta Road, Newton NJ 07860

Duration: 3 Months

Shift Timing: 1st shift 7 to 11am

Job Description:
  1. The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of our company to patients who come in, both as part of their health routine or for insights into life-defining health decisions.
  2. The PSR II draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares those specimens for lab testing following established practices and procedures.
  3. The PSR II has direct contact with patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner.
  4. The PSR II demonstrates leadership behaviors, focusing on process excellence and maintaining sensitivity to confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.
  5. Successful applicants may be assigned to a doctor's office, a patient service center, or as dictated by business needs. Under the supervision of the area supervisor, perform daily activities accurately and on time.
  6. Maintain a safe and professional environment. Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties confidently, following established practices and procedures.
  7. Verify patient demographic information, including initials and signature post-venipuncture, to ensure tubes are labeled in the patient's presence and labels are correct. Maintain required records and documentation.
  8. Promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public, demonstrating organizational commitment.
Job Requirements:
  1. Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  2. Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
  3. Flexibility and availability based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
  4. Adherence to all policies and procedures, including dress code, employee health and safety, and guiding principles.
  5. Ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment. Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record if applicable.
  6. Willingness to travel and work flexible hours across multiple locations with minimal notice.
  7. Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
  8. Strong customer focus, open communication, and adaptability to change. Knowledge of our business is a plus.
  9. Training locations may vary based on trainer availability.
Required Education:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic preferred.
  3. Phlebotomy certification preferred.
  4. Certification required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Work Experience:
  1. Minimum of three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  2. At least two years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
  3. Customer service experience in retail or service environment preferred.
  4. Keyboard data entry experience.
