Job Description:
- The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of our company to patients who come in, both as part of their health routine or for insights into life-defining health decisions.
- The PSR II draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares those specimens for lab testing following established practices and procedures.
- The PSR II has direct contact with patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner.
- The PSR II demonstrates leadership behaviors, focusing on process excellence and maintaining sensitivity to confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.
- Successful applicants may be assigned to a doctor's office, a patient service center, or as dictated by business needs. Under the supervision of the area supervisor, perform daily activities accurately and on time.
- Maintain a safe and professional environment. Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties confidently, following established practices and procedures.
- Verify patient demographic information, including initials and signature post-venipuncture, to ensure tubes are labeled in the patient's presence and labels are correct. Maintain required records and documentation.
- Promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public, demonstrating organizational commitment.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Flexibility and availability based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
- Adherence to all policies and procedures, including dress code, employee health and safety, and guiding principles.
- Ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment. Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record if applicable.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours across multiple locations with minimal notice.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
- Strong customer focus, open communication, and adaptability to change. Knowledge of our business is a plus.
- Training locations may vary based on trainer availability.
Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred.
- Certification required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- At least two years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
- Customer service experience in retail or service environment preferred.
- Keyboard data entry experience.
