Job description

Title: Phlebotomist II

Duration: 3 months

Location: Hartford, Connecticut, United States, 06106

Shift: 5:30a-10:30a EST

Description:
  1. The Phlebotomist II draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares those specimens for lab testing following established practices and procedures.
  2. Provides excellent patient care by creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence, explaining procedures clearly, and drawing blood specimens safely and accurately.
  3. Demonstrates leadership behaviors, focusing on process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information.
  4. May be assigned to a doctor's office, patient service center, or other locations as needed.
  5. Performs daily activities accurately and on time under the supervision of the area supervisor.
  6. Maintains a safe and professional environment at all times.
  7. Performs forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing following established protocols.
  8. Verifies patient demographic information and labels tubes in the presence of the patient, obtaining signatures as required.
  9. Maintains accurate records and documentation.
  10. Promotes a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public, demonstrating organizational commitment.
Job Requirements:
  1. Ability to deliver quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  2. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  3. Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
  4. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime based on staffing needs.
  5. Adherence to all policies and procedures, including dress code, safety, and guiding principles.
  6. Good judgment and decision-making skills based on established procedures.
  7. Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record if applicable.
  8. Willingness to travel and work flexible hours across multiple locations with minimal notice.
  9. Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
  10. Strong customer focus, open communication, adaptability to change, and business knowledge.
Training Locations:

May vary based on trainer availability.

Required Education:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic preferred.
  3. Phlebotomy certification preferred.
  4. Certification required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Work Experience:
  1. At least three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  2. Minimum of 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
  3. Customer service experience in retail or service sectors preferred.
  4. Keyboard/data entry experience.
