Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health in Westerly, RI seeks a dedicated Phlebotomist to obtain blood samples from inpatients and outpatients while upholding patient privacy and comfort. You will register patients and ensure specimens are labeled and tracked accurately.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED.
• Prior phlebotomy experience.
• Certification or eligible with National Phlebotomy Association preferred.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Phlebotomy with proper patient identification and specimen labeling according to policy.
• Accessioning and timely receipt of specimens into the laboratory.
• Provide excellent customer service using AIDET principles; protect patient privacy and comfort.
• Interact professionally with all hospital staff.
• Review vouchers and registrations for accuracy and correct as needed.
• Order tests in hospital and laboratory computer systems; document any issues.
• Comply with universal precautions and safety policies.
• Maintain cleanliness of courier vehicle if applicable.

EXPERIENCE

Prior experience in phlebotomy.

LICENSURE
