Job summary

Spectraforce Technologies is seeking a Phlebotomist II for an Independent Operated Protocol (IOP) location in Boone, NC. The candidate will handle patient registration, specimen collection, processing, and hard-stick geriatric draws, often working independently under HM supervision.

Responsibilities include venipuncture, labeling, processing, and ensuring specimen integrity while meeting OSHA and lab safety standards. 3-month contract with Mon-Fri schedule and 8am-5pm shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 6 months of recent phlebotomy experience in hospital or high-volume lab.
• 2–4 years healthcare/phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Valid Phlebotomy Certification if state requires.
• Proficiency in venipuncture with straight and butterfly needles.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture using straight and butterfly needles.
• Collect, label, process, centrifuge, split, freeze, and package specimens.
• Verify patient information and match specimens with requisitions.
• Explain collection procedures to patients in a professional manner.
• Maintain specimen integrity during handling, storage, and transport.
• Update patient information and document collection accurately.
• Perform equipment maintenance and decontamination as required.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and lab safety regulations.
• Answer phone calls and assist with lab inquiries.
• Participate in departmental training and quality standards.

Summary:

The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, trouble shooting, training and making work flow recommendations. This is for an IOP location, candidate will be working by themselves so HM is looking for skilled phlebotomist who can draw hard stick geriatric patients. Will be handling patient registration, specimen processing and draws can range daily from 10 to 30 patients

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months of recent phlebotomy experience in a hospital or high-volume laboratory setting.
• Overall 2-4 years of healthcare/phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Proficiency in venipuncture using straight and butterfly needles.
• Experience processing and handling laboratory specimens.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills.
• Strong communication and patient care skills.
• Valid Phlebotomy Certification if required by state regulations.
