Phlebotomist I - Laboratory Collection - Full Time

Summary: Responsible for the collection of blood and other specimens from all patient populations using prescribed procedures with accuracy, skill, professionalism, and superb customer service. Duties may include on and off-site phlebotomy, specimen transport, and specimen delivery. Other duties involve patient registration, lab order management, processing specimens, handling blood study kits, lab order entry, and acting as a first responder to emergency codes.

Job Description: Responsible for blood and specimen collection from all patient groups, adhering to safety and regulatory standards. May respond to medical emergencies and perform related duties such as specimen handling and lab order management.

Education, License & Certification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Completion of a phlebotomy training program or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic anatomy preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required at some locations.

Essential Functions: Obtain quality blood samples using various phlebotomy methods, ensure proper identification and labeling, and transport specimens. Use computer systems effectively, communicate professionally with patients and staff, and respond quickly to emergencies. Maintain a positive attitude, work independently and in teams, and demonstrate organization, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Foster an inclusive work environment.

Other Duties: Support evening, night, weekend, or holiday shifts; travel for specimen collection; perform other duties as assigned.
