Job summary

Saint Francis Hospital South, L.L.C. is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform venipunctures, arterial punctures, and capillary sampling for laboratory testing. You will enter orders, access specimens in the system, and support routine laboratory operations.

Minimum education is a High School Diploma or GED, with 0–6 months related experience. Schedule includes Saturday, Sunday, and Tuesday shifts; this is an ECB status position with limited benefits.

Job description

This position is ECB status – requires a minimum number of worked hours per month as needed by the department; limited benefit offerings.

Days Phlebotomist South Campus Schedule: Saturday/Sunday/Tuesday 6:45a - 7:15p

Job Summary: Performs venipunctures, arterial punctures, and capillary sampling to obtain blood samples for laboratory testing.

Enters orders for testing and accessions specimens in the computer system.

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: None.

Work Experience: 0 - 6 month(s) related experience inclusive of on the job or classroom training in phlebotomy.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Basic PC Skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to draw blood specimens.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Collects patient specimens competently and accurately.
  • Supports the general operation of the Laboratory.
  • Documents collection and processes specimens efficiently.
  • Performs phlebotomy collections in a timely manner.

Decision Making: Independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited and standard policies/protocols have been established.
