Job summary

Quest Diagnostics in Santa Clarita, CA is hiring a Phlebotomist I to collect specimens Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM with rotational weekends. The role offers hourly pay of $24.00–$25.70 and eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

Responsibilities include collecting specimens, preparing samples, verifying orders, data entry, and maintaining accurate logs. Requirements: high school diploma or equivalent; phlebotomy certification preferred (required in CA); one year phlebotomy

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred and required in CA, Nevada, and Washington.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens according to established procedures.
• Administer oral solutions according to training.
• Verify orders using lab systems and client contact.
• Enter data accurately and maintain logs.
• Process specimens and prepare for transport as required.
• Perform non-patient facing duties such as inventory and filing.
• Read and comply with departmental policies and procedures.
• Assist with statistics and data submission as needed.

Pay range: $24.00 – $25.70 per hour. Salary offers are based on factors such as skills, training, experience, education, and certifications. Successful candidates may receive an annual performance bonus.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, biometric screening and insurance exams.
• Administer oral solutions according to established training.
• Research test/client information and confirm and verify all written and electronic orders using lab technology systems, client contact, and approved tools.
• Navigate a computer and accurately enter data.
• Obtain identification and accurately enter billing information and collect payments when required, following corporate policies.
• Process specimens, including labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing and preparing for transport as required by test order.
• Perform all non‑patient facing duties, including inventory, stock supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones and utilizing email as appropriate.
• Read, understand and comply with departmental policies, protocols and procedures.
• Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data when required.
• Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner and based on frequency, such as maintenance logs and temperature logs.
• Complete online and in‑person training courses timely.

Qualifications

Required Education

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred. Required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

Work Experience

• One year phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.
• Keyboard/data entry experience.

The position requires the ability to effectively communicate in English.
