Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Inc. is hiring a Phlebotomist I in Fremont, CA, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM with rotational weekends. A state phlebotomy license is required; CA does not accept NHA licenses.

Pay range is $24.10–$28.75 per hour. Eligible for annual bonus depending on performance and company factors. The role involves collecting specimens, entering data, performing non-patient duties, and maintaining logs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Medical training (medical assistant or paramedic) preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in CA, NV, WA.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens according to procedures (drug screens, biometric screening, etc.).
• Administer oral solutions as trained.
• Review test/client information and verify orders using lab systems.
• Navigate computer systems and enter data accurately.
• Enter billing information and collect payments per policies.
• Process specimens: labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing, transport prep.
• Perform non-patient duties: inventory, stocking, sanitizing, filing, phones, emails.
• Read and follow departmental policies and procedures.
• Assist with statistics submissions and data collection.
• Maintain phlebotomy logs and complete training timely.

Pay range: $24.10 - $28.75 / hour

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens according to established procedures. This includes, but not limited to: drug screens, biometric screening and insurance exams.
• Administer oral solutions according to established training.
• Research test/client information and confirm and verify all written and electronic orders by utilizing lab technology systems, Client contact, and approved tools.
• Ability to navigate a computer and accurately enter data is a requirement to be successful in this role.
• Obtain identification and accurately enter billing information and collect payments when required, following corporate policies.
• Processing specimens including: labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing and preparing for transport as required by test order.
• Perform all non-patient facing duties, including inventory, stock supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones and utilizing email as appropriate.
• Read, understand and comply with departmental policies, protocols and procedures.
• Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data when required.
• Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner and based on frequency, such as maintenance logs and temperature logs.
• Complete online and in person training courses timely.

Qualifications

Required Education

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred. Required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

Work Experience

• One year phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.
• Keyboard/data entry experience.

The position requires the ability to effectively communicate in English.
