Job summary

Quest Diagnostics seeks a Phlebotomist I for Mill Valley, CA, Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM with rotating Saturday shifts, 7:30 AM–1:00 PM. State phlebotomy license required; CA/NV/WA licensing rules apply.

Pay range $24.10–$28.75/hour, with potential annual performance bonus. Qualifications include high school diploma or equivalent, phlebotomy certification preferred/required in CA, NV, WA, and 1 year phlebotomy experience preferred.

  • Phlebotomy certification preferred; CA/NV/WA require it.
  • One year phlebotomy experience and good customer service are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collect specimens according to procedures (drug screens, biometric screening, insurance exams).
  • Administer oral solutions as trained.
  • Verify orders using lab systems and client contact.
  • Enter data accurately on computer; follow billing procedures.
  • Handle non-patient duties: inventory, stocking, sanitizing, filing, phones, email.
  • Maintain phlebotomy logs and complete trainings timely.

Job Description

This position requires you to have a state phlebotomy license. (Quest does not accept NHA licenses in CA, WA, NV).

Phlebotomist I – Mill Valley, CA – Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with rotational Saturday, 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM.

Pay range: $24.10 – $28.75 per hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance‑bonus compensation.

Responsibilities
  • Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, biometric screening, and insurance exams.
  • Administer oral solutions according to established training.
  • Research test/client information and confirm and verify all written and electronic orders by utilizing lab technology systems, client contact, and approved tools.
  • Navigate a computer and accurately enter data – a requirement for success in this role.
  • Obtain identification and accurately enter billing information, collecting payments when required, following corporate policies.
  • Process specimens, including labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing, and preparing for transport as required by test order.
  • Perform all non‑patient‑facing duties, including inventory, stocking supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones, and utilizing email as appropriate.
  • Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures.
  • Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data when required.
  • Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner, such as maintenance logs and temperature logs.
  • Complete online and in‑person training courses timely.
Qualifications
Required Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Work Experience
  • One year phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.

The position requires the ability to effectively communicate in English.
