Phlebotomist - Lab
Second Shift Full Time: 12:30pm-9pm, every other weekend and rotating holidays
JOB DESCRIPTION :
We are seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist to join our team at Baptist Health Hardin. In this role, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients for medical testing, transfusions, research, or blood donations. You will work closely with patients, nurses, and laboratory staff to ensure accurate and timely specimen collection while maintaining a high standard of patient care and safety.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs phlebotomy procedures on Neonates/infants-birth to 1 year, Pediatrics- age 1 to 12 years, Adolescents- age 12 to 18 years, Adults- age 18 to 65 years, and Geriatrics- age 65 and older while adhering to infection control and safety policies and HIPAA Privacy Regulations
Collect blood specimens from other healthcare facilities, stock supplies as received
Stock phlebotomy collection trays
Assist with collection of legal drug screens
Prepare specimens for shipment to reference lab with proper preservation
REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Must demonstrate outstanding communication skills with patients and health care personnel, professionalism, acceptance of responsibility to quality specimen collection
Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and self-motivation skills required
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
One year of experience in the phlebotomy field is preferred (on-the-job training will be considered)
Completion of a phlebotomy training program preferred
