Responsibilities

• Collects, registers, and processes patient laboratory specimens using various collection techniques and computer systems.
• Verifies patient demographic and insurance information and reviews physician orders.
• Performs safe venipuncture, heel or finger sticks, and may collect throat cultures, urine, and stool samples.
• Labels specimens according to protocol and maintains accurate specimen handling.
• Maintains supplies, equipment, and daily temperature documentation; supports QA activities.
• May perform EKGs and may travel to different locations as needed.
