Concord Hospital is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform a variety of duties involved in the collection, labeling, and handling of venous and capillary blood specimens for health care providers at the patient service centers, main hospital facility, and client sites. Responsibilities include phlebotomy, basic clerical duties, and providing exceptional customer service.

The position reports to the Supervisor Non-Technical and requires prior phlebotomy experience.

Summary

Performs a variety of duties involved in the collection, identification, and labeling of venous and capillary blood specimens from patients for health care providers at the patient service center(s), main hospital facility, and various client sites, according to established methods and procedures. Responsible for handling of all laboratory specimens, performs capillary glucose testing, and completes clerical duties associated with laboratory specimen collection. Reports to the Supervisor Non-Technical and is accountable to all Laboratory Management Team members.

Current Hours 9:30am-5:15pm Mon-Friday

Education High school or equivalent (GED).

Certification, Registration, and Licensure None required.

Experience Prior phlebotomy experience is required.

Responsibilities
  • Obtains and processes venous and capillary blood samples required for laboratory analysis from patients of all ages upon request.
  • Provides customer service to patients and stakeholders of the laboratory department.
  • Assists in training of phlebotomy students, nursing or laboratory personnel, as directed, in regards to obtaining, handling and transport of specimens, and other areas related to phlebotomy.
  • Demonstrates compliance with corporate, departmental and job-specific requirements.
  • Identifies problems related to work activities, including involvement in Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement efforts within the department.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in utilization of the hospital/laboratory information and technology systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
