Job summary

Day Kimball Health in Putnam, CT is seeking a Phlebotomist for the Lab Department on a full-time 1st shift. You will obtain blood specimens from patients of all ages, following venipuncture and micro-technique methods, and ensure proper specimen labeling and handling.

You will instruct patients, help with urine collection as ordered, and support ED staff with phlebotomy tasks. A phlebotomy program certificate or certification is preferred, and a valid driver’s license with liability insurance is

Qualifications

• Education: Graduation and certification from approved phlebotomy program or recognized certifying agency is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and proof of current liability insurance as well as reliable vehicle required
• Experience: 5 years of experience in a hospital lab preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtains blood specimens from patients using venipuncture and micro-puncture techniques.
• Instructs patients to collect urine as ordered and collect throat cultures as required.
• Identifies patient correctly using latest procedures. Reviews requisition, orders tests, and prepares labels for accuracy.
