Job description

Collects and processes blood specimens for testing in the laboratory.

Reports to: Phlebotomy Supervisor

Labels, processes and delivers specimens for testing. Drag Edit Delete Collects ordered specimens from patients using age-appropriate techniques. Drag Edit Delete Maintains scheduled and non-scheduled equipment maintenance and medical supplies. Drag Edit Delete Utilize computer system for data entry and monitoring workflow Drag Edit Delete Accurately registers patients using appropriate method and registration procedures. Drag Edit Delete Performs routine department functions, such as answering the phone in an appropriate and timely manner, taking/delivering messages and transferring calls as needed, faxing and copying. Drag Edit Delete Stocks laboratory supplies Drag Edit Delete Maintains a clean and organized work environment Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent - Required Drag Edit Delete Minimum Education
Graduate of a Program in Discipline - Preferred
Formal Phlebotomy program with a minimum of 40 hours of clinical experience/certification - Preferred Drag Edit Delete Required Skills
Certification:
BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) - Required within 30 days of hire, if not current upon hire. Drag Edit Delete Required Skills
