Job summary

Hutchinson Regional Medical Center is seeking a Phlebotomist to collect and process specimens for diagnostics, transfusions, or research at our Hutchinson, KS location. The role includes maintaining phlebotomy stations, ensuring proper disposal of sharps, and delivering specimens to the appropriate lab sections.

Responsibilities include upholding HIPAA rules, communicating effectively with patients and staff, and supporting the laboratory operations across age groups from newborn to geriatric.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current BLS/CPR card within 30 days of hire or by end of orientation.
• Must complete color blind test within 30 days of hire.
• One year related experience or training preferred.

Essential Responsibilities

• Properly dispose of used sharps and other bio-hazardous waste.


• Collect, process, and deliver specimens to appropriate section of the Laboratory for testing.


• Maintain phlebotomy trays and outpatient draw station (restocking supplies, cleanliness, etc.)


• Function performed affect the population ages newborn through geriatric.


• Act in accordance with the established mission, vision, and values.


• Abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).


• Maintain effective communication and professional working relationships with patients/clients and their representatives, team members, contractors, physicians, peers, outside agencies, and the public.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent


• Current BLS/CPR card from approved provider within 30 days of hire or by the end of orientation, whichever comes first.


• Must complete color blind test/screen within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• One year related experience or training.


• Phlebotomy Technician PBT (ASCP).
