Job description

Healthcare Talent Support is seeking a highly qualified Phlebotomist. This is a 3-month temporary assignment with the potential to extend or go permanent. This is a float opportunity and requires a clean driving record.

Duties
  • Perform venipuncture and collect blood specimens from patients in an inpatient setting.
  • Label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data and decontamination, update patient information, etc.
  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
  • Properly explain in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and/or other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) as required.
  • Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
  • Fully understand all of the physicians' orders. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
  • Check all test requisitions or computer labels against the script to ensure 100% accuracy.
  • Package specimens for transport.
  • Store specimen samples according to required temperature, place samples in appropriate collection container/tube, accurately label, and follow different procedures as outlined by specific protocols deemed necessary for transport to maintain the integrity of the specimen.
  • Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings.
  • Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
Skills
  • 2 - 4 years+ Phlebotomy experience.
  • Ability to perform venipuncture.
  • Familiarity with specimen collection processing and blood sampling.

Compensation: Commensurate with training and experience.

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary.

Expected hours: 40 per week.

Schedule
  • M-F 7am-5pm; hours may vary with earliest start at 7am and latest at 5pm.
