Software Placement Group is seeking a Phlebotomist in the Albany, NY area for a 3-month contract with potential for permanency. The role requires phlebotomy certification, 6 months' venipuncture experience, and ability to travel between locations.

The position is on-site, full-time, with occasional Saturdays, and offers benefits and paid mileage. Candidates should have reliable transportation and a clean driving record.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required in some states.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• High School Diploma or GED
• Clean driving record
• Reliable transportation

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data and decontamination activities.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods as required.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand and follow physicians' orders.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check test requisitions or computer labels for 100% accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport.
• Store specimen samples at required temperatures and follow protocol to maintain specimen integrity.
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
• Travel between multiple assigned sites as a float position, potentially working an 8-hour shift anytime between 630am-530pm, with a 5-hour shift on alternating Saturdays (every 2 weeks) from 7am-1pm
