Job summary

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent with basic anatomy knowledge.
• Ability to read and write at Invest level 3 as documented by hospital software.
• Develop technical skills and follow policies and procedures.
• Strong interpersonal skills to interact with staff, patients, physicians, and nurses.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens from adults and children using venipuncture and capillary techniques; perform EKGs as assigned.
• Interface with Laboratory to expedite specimen procurement; ensure proper labeling and transport.
• Perform clerical duties including data entry on hospital and Laboratory computers.
• Maintain clean, safe blood-drawing areas in accordance with policies.
• Rotate weekends and holidays; rotate to off-site draws as needed.
• Register outpatients in Meditech with correct demographics and insurance data.
• Request appropriate tests and label specimens; match computer and handwritten labels.
• Deliver specimens to the correct Laboratory areas; ensure timely delivery of Stat tests.
