Job summary

VillageMD is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to join our satellite labs in Michigan. This full-time, benefit-eligible role involves drawing blood cultures, handling stat specimens, and performing tests per SOP while ensuring accuracy and patient safety.

You will train new staff, monitor supplies, and adapt shifts to emergencies. Requires high school diploma, 2 years phlebotomy experience, and preferred NHA certification or CLA.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 2 years of phlebotomy experience required and drug screen collection preferred.
• Phlebotomy Technician Certification through the NHA preferred.
• CLA Certificate preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA guidelines and laboratory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Draw blood cultures using aseptic technique.
• Process Stat specimens per SOP.
• Prepare and label specimen collection containers and provide collection instructions.
• Collect and document samples for 24-hour collections.
• Perform Rapid Strep and Hemoccult tests in LIS and notify physicians of critical results.
• Train new staff on lab policies and procedures.
• Travel to satellite locations as needed.
