Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Program or Medical Assistant Program that includes phlebotomy or a minimum of 6 months experience in phlebotomy.
• Preferred: ASCP or equivalent certification.

Responsibilities

• Obtains blood specimens by venipuncture and capillary methods, as well as urine specimens from all age groups, for a variety of laboratory tests and procedures.
• Provides specimen collection information and test preparation information to nursing, patients and family members as appropriate.
• The collected specimens are used in diagnosis and treatment.
