Job summary

Unio Health Partners (UHP) is seeking a Phlebotomist to join our California laboratories. You will collect blood specimens across patient ages, ensuring safety, specimen integrity, and accurate labeling.

This role requires completing a California phlebotomy program and current CPT I/II certification, with BLS preferred. Travel between offices may be required, and you will support LIS/EMR systems and daily lab operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• California-approved phlebotomy training program completed.
• Current CDPH CPT I or CPT II certification required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or required on hire.
• Maintain all required certifications throughout employment.
• Experience with LIS and EMR systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture and capillary blood collection on patients of all ages.
• Properly identifies patients using approved identification protocols.
• Verifies test orders and ensures information is complete before collection.
• Labels specimens accurately at the patient’s side.
• Processes specimens for in-house or reference testing.
• Monitors specimen quality and reports unacceptable specimens.
• Adheres to CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA, and infection prevention standards.
• Properly disposes of biohazardous waste and sharps.
• Participates in competency assessments and ongoing training.
• Assists with front office or laboratory support as needed.
• Travel between offices/labs may be required.
