Job description

Responsibilities
  1. Comply with applicable Federal, State, and local regulations, as well as all American Red Cross policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  2. Perform whole blood collection procedures (allogeneic, autologous, directed, therapeutic) and donor health history screening procedures.
  3. Conduct donor greeting, processing, packing blood, and donor reaction care as assigned.
  4. Perform daily function checks, assemble and maintain supplies and equipment to ensure readiness and compliance.
  5. Work with the team to ensure an efficient donation process, focusing on donor and sponsor expectations, and maintain positive public relations.
  6. Operate ARC vehicles, including those requiring a CDL, transporting supplies and equipment in compliance with regulations and fleet policies. Perform vehicle checks and complete DOT paperwork.
  7. Load, set up, maintain, and tear down supplies and equipment to ensure readiness and compliance.
  8. Complete required readings and training assignments by the specified deadlines.
  9. Perform other related duties as necessary.
Scope

Drive ARC vehicles throughout the blood region to collection sites, support donor and operation activities, and provide excellent customer service. Balance production, customer service, and compliance daily, ensuring product integrity and optimal donor experience. Represent the organization professionally, demonstrating commitment to customer service.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or phlebotomy training preferred.
  • Customer service experience, effective verbal communication, and public relations skills required.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required; Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
  • Previous truck and/or bus driving experience preferred.
  • Must pass DOT physical and related requirements; able to obtain a medical certification of at least one year.
  • Basic computer skills desirable; applicable local licensure if required by state.
Essential Functions/Physical Requirements

This role requires operational flexibility, the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, squat, push or pull heavy weights, and sustain long periods of sitting or standing. Adaptability to long, irregular hours and schedule changes is necessary. The physical demands include handling equipment and supplies, with potential exposure to blood or blood components.

Additional Information

This position involves setting up and tearing down equipment for mobile blood drives, which includes pushing carts up to 250 lbs and handling various supplies. Exposure levels are based on the essential functions, with potential contact with blood or blood components due to splashes, spills, or needlesticks.
