Job description

Responsibilities

  1. Comply with applicable Federal, State, and local regulations as well as all American Red Cross policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  2. Perform whole blood collection procedures (allogeneic, autologous, directed, therapeutic). Conduct donor health history screening procedures.
  3. Greet donors, process donations, pack blood, and provide donor reaction care as assigned.
  4. Perform daily function checks, assemble and maintain supplies and equipment to ensure readiness and compliance.
  5. Work with the team to ensure an efficient donation process that meets donor and sponsor expectations. Maintain positive public relations to promote a professional image.
  6. Operate ARC vehicles, including those requiring a CDL license, transport supplies and equipment, perform vehicle checks, and complete DOT paperwork per protocol.
  7. Load, set up, maintain, and tear down supplies and equipment to ensure compliance.
  8. Complete required readings and training assignments by the assigned deadline.
  9. Perform other related duties as necessary.

Scope

  • Drive ARC vehicles throughout the blood region to collection sites, set-up and tear down, and provide related donor and operational support.
  • Maintain frequent external contact with donors and sponsors.
  • Balance production, customer service, and compliance daily, ensuring product integrity and an optimal donor experience.
  • Represent the organization professionally, demonstrating a commitment to excellent customer service.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Medical assistant or phlebotomy training preferred.
  • Customer service experience, effective verbal communication, and public relations skills required.
  • Valid driver's license, good driving record, and CDL required.
  • Previous truck and/or bus driving experience preferred.
  • Must pass DOT physical and related requirements; able to obtain a medical certification valid for at least one year.
  • Basic computer skills desirable.

Essential Functions/Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., squat, push or pull heavy weights, and perform manual tasks with good dexterity.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods, adapt to long and irregular hours, and handle schedule changes.
  • Work involves setting up and tearing down mobile blood drive equipment, pushing carts up to 250 lbs., and handling equipment and supplies.

This position involves potential exposure to blood or blood components, classified as Exposure Determination I, requiring adherence to safety protocols.
