Job summary

Job description

Position Summary

Under direct supervision by department leadership, performs phlebotomy collection of whole blood and apheresis products. Interacts with donors and coordinators, providing a high level of customer service to deliver an excellent donation experience. Operates the mobile drive vehicle, loads and unloads supplies, and transports mobile staff safely and efficiently.

Schedule After 8‑Week Training
  • Must be available from 4:00 am–10:00 pm, including weekends and holidays.
  • Schedules posted 2–3 weeks in advance.
  • Hours determined by blood drive schedule.
  • 5 days on, 2 days off.
  • Full‑time (32–40 hours per week).

Compensation

The target hourly rate is $17.36. The salary is based on internal averages and market alignment. Specific salary and benefits are shared during phone screening based on location and qualifications.

Additional compensation includes:

  • 8 weeks paid training.
  • Shift differentials for evenings (after 6:00 pm) and weekends.
  • Skill‑based percentage increases after training.
  • Additional bilingual (Spanish) increase after passing certification exam.

Responsibilities
  • Follow DOT guidelines when operating the full‑size commercial van/Promaster and safely transport staff, supplies, and equipment.
  • Load/unload supplies and set up technology systems and quality control at the mobile site.
  • Perform donor screening (collect donor histories), mini‑physical, and phlebotomy.
  • Deliver exemplary donor service by responding to inquiries, requests, and complaints promptly and escalating when appropriate.
  • May operate automation (Alyx and/or Trima), recognize and respond to automation reactions, and recruit and convert donors for automation.
  • Contribute to a positive team culture with teamwork, collaboration, and respectful behaviors.
  • Maintain product integrity, ensure proper donor identification, perform routine equipment maintenance, and complete department records; may prepare/pack units for transport.
  • Observe donors for reactions, provide reaction care, and assist other staff with reaction handling if needed.
  • Rebook donors for future donation appointments.
  • Subject to additional background checks as required if assisting a mobile.
  • Perform other duties reasonably within the scope of this classification.
  • Comply with all regulatory and compliance requirements and standard operating policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience
  • 1–3 years of relevant people‑facing experience preferred.
  • Less than 1 year of job‑related experience required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of standardized work routines and use of simple equipment and materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as SOPs, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
  • Basic mathematical aptitude and strong attention to detail.
  • Apply judgment to written or oral instructions.
  • Organize work to provide productive workflow.
  • Provide a consistently positive donor experience through professional, empathetic service.
  • Contribute to a positive team culture through respectful communication and collaboration.
  • Flexibility to work independently, with a team, and to adapt to changing needs.

Licenses and Certifications
  • Valid driver license (DL) required.
