Job summary

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture process clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles or butterfly needles.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.
• Check test requisitions against script to ensure accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport.
• Store specimen samples according to required temperature.
