Job summary

UHS is seeking a Phlebotomist to collect and handle specimens for hospital and PHP locations, maintaining a friendly patient-facing approach. The role involves reporting critical results and monitoring incoming data from reference labs, with clear communication to providers.

The ideal candidate will perform phlebotomy with care, follow hospital policies for patient IDs, and uphold professional standards across nursing and medical staff. BLS certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or Equivalent. Graduate of an accredited Phlebotomy Certificate program or Medical Assisting program required.
• At least 6 months of active phlebotomy and specimen collection experience is strongly preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Draws blood competently, consistently and expediently with as little patient discomfort as possible.
• Identifies the patient using the two-unique identifiers described in the hospital’s policy before services are provided.
• Records phlebotomy requisitions on log.
• Displays courteous, professional manner towards patients, co-workers, nursing and medical staff.
