Job summary

True North Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Phlebotomist for an Albany, NY location. The role involves performing blood draws, labeling and processing specimens, and maintaining sharp attention to accuracy and patient interaction.

The contract position spans an estimated 3 months with possible permanent placement. Schedule is varied (Mon-Fri 6:30am-5:30pm; some Saturdays 7am-1pm). Requires phlebotomy certification and at least 6 months of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital

Qualifications

Must have phlebotomy certification as required by state.
Minimum 6 months of venipuncture in fast-paced lab/hospital setting.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
Explain venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
Demonstrate technique with straight or butterfly needles; follow physicians’ orders.
Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens per test order.
Check test requisitions against scripts for accuracy; transport specimens accordingly.
Store specimens per required temperatures and transport protocols to maintain integrity.
Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations; attend annual trainings.
Answer calls and relay lab results to inquiries.
