Job Juncture seeks a qualified phlebotomist for a contract position in Anchorage, AK. The role involves drawing blood, labeling and processing specimens, and maintaining accurate patient records. Duration is approximately 3 months with potential for permanent placement, with benefits available.

Schedule is 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Must have state phlebotomy certification and at least 6 months of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws and specimen collection.
• Label specimens and centrifuge as required.
• Record maintenance data and decontamination per SOPs.
• Update patient information accurately.
• Collect and store specimens per established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture procedure to patients when needed.
• Demonstrate needle techniques (straight/butterfly).
• Ensure orders match requisitions; verify accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport and maintain specimen integrity.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations; attend trainings.
• Answer calls and communicate lab results to inquiries.

Position Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws
• Labeling specimens
• Centrifuging specimens
• Recording maintenance data and decontamination
• Updating patient information
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures
• Properly explains the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and/or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as required
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles
• Fully understand all of the physicians' orders
• Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order
• Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct
• Package specimens for transport
• Stores specimen sample according to required temperature, places samples in appropriate collection container/tube, accurately labels, follows different procedures as outlined by protocol deemed necessary for transport to maintain integrity of the specimen
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
• Attend annual department trainings
• Answer telephone calls, read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• High School Diploma or GED
• minimum 1 year of experience
