Job summary

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed.
• Minimum 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
• High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws and specimen labeling.
• Centrifuge and process specimens per SOPs.
• Document maintenance data and update patient information accurately.
• Explain venipuncture process clearly to patients and ensure safety and comfort.
• Prepare specimens for transport according to required protocols.
• Follow OSHA guidelines and maintain specimen integrity.
• Attend departmental trainings and communicate test results when needed.

Mileage expense paid.Requires a clean driving record and reliable transportation.Summary:The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, trouble shooting, training and making work flow recommendations.Position Responsibilities:Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as requiredDemonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.Fully understand all of the physicians' orders.Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
