Tom Trese Networking LLC is seeking a Phlebotomist to cover Winston Salem NC and surrounding areas. This contract role involves early-morning shifts, potential for permanent placement, mileage reimbursement, and a 3-month duration with possible extension.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months' venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Phlebotomy certification required by state where employed.
• High school diploma or GED required; MS Office proficiency advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge, and maintain records.
• Explain venipuncture procedure clearly and courteously to patients.
• Match requisitions to specimens, label, centrifuge, and store samples as required.
• Prepare specimens for transport and ensure proper temperature controls and labeling.
• Assist with annual department trainings and answer inquiries.

Location: Winston Salem NC and area

Schedule: M-f 5am-5:30p with possible
Saturday hours differ (will be 8 hour shift)

Summary:

The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, trouble shooting, training and making work flow recommendations.

Position Responsibilities:

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as required
• Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all of the physicians' orders.Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct.
• Package specimens for transport
• Stores specimen sample according to required temperature, places samples in appropriate collection container/ tube, accurately labels, follows different procedures as outlined by specific to protocol deemed necessary for transport to maintain integrity of the specimen.Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings
• Answer telephone calls, read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office SuiteHigh School Diploma or GED
