Qualifications

• 1 year minimum experience as a Phlebotomist.
• Experience performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, and decontamination procedures.
• Proficiency using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Ability to follow physicians' orders accurately.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data and decontamination activities.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture and other specimen collection methods to patients.
• Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Follow physicians' orders accurately and match requisition forms to tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check test requisitions against scripts to ensure accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport and store samples per guidelines.
• Update patient information as needed.

Overview

A healthcare services provider is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist for a contract assignment in Gahanna, OH. This role is essential to ensuring accurate specimen collection, handling, and processing to support patient care and diagnostic testing. The projected duration of this assignment is 3 to 4 months.

What you'll do

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data and decontamination activities
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures
• Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods (e.g., urine or fecal) to patients
• Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles
• Fully understand and follow all physicians' orders
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order
• Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy
• Package specimens for transport
• Store specimen samples according to required temperature and placement guidelines
• Update patient information as needed
• Troubleshoot issues, provide training, and make workflow recommendations

Required qualifications
