Hire Consulting Services in Gahanna, OH is seeking a Phlebotomist for a temporary assignment to support blood collection, labeling, and specimen processing. The role requires at least one year of phlebotomy experience and involves direct patient interaction and adherence to procedures for specimen handling.

Schedule includes 8:30am-5pm on Mon, Tue, Wed, and Fri; 8:30am-8pm on Thursday. The project duration is 3 to 4 months with benefits available.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of phlebotomy experience.
• Experience performing blood draws and labeling specimens.
• Ability to record maintenance data and decontamination procedures.
• Explain venipuncture process clearly to patients.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Properly explains the venipuncture process and other specimen collection to patients.
• Demonstrate technique using straight or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand physicians' orders and match requisition forms to tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Store specimen samples according to required temperature and place samples.
• Minimum of 1 year experience.

Summary: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, trouble shooting, training and making work flow recommendations.

Position Responsibilities:

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as required.
• Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all of the physicians' orders.
• Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct. Package specimens for transport.
• Stores specimen sample according to required temperature, places samples.
