Job summary

Genie Matthews and Associates in Ohio is seeking a Phlebotomist to join our clinical team for a 3-4 month assignment in Gahanna. The role requires performing blood draws, labeling and handling specimens, and ensuring accurate patient information and test orders are followed.

You will train and troubleshoot workflows, support physicians' orders, and maintain proper specimen transport and storage under established procedures. Minimum of 1 year of phlebotomy experience is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of phlebotomy experience required.
• Experience doing blood draws and labeling specimens.
• Ability to explain venipuncture procedures clearly to patients.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection as required.
• Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all physicians' orders.
• Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct. Package specimens for transport.
• Stores specimen sample according to required temperature, places samples.
• Minimum of 1 year experience

Summary: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, trouble shooting, training and making work flow recommendations.
