  • Pediatric experience required
  • Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment (as required in some states)
  • Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

  • Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge samples according to established procedures
  • Record maintenance data and perform decontamination duties
  • Update patient information accurately in relevant systems
  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures
  • Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods clearly and courteously
  • Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles
  • Fully understand and follow physicians' orders
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order
  • Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy
  • Package specimens for transport, ensuring proper temperature and container use
  • Accurately label specimens and follow protocol-specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport
  • Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
  • Attend annual department trainings
  • Answer telephone calls and relay laboratory results to satisfy inquiries

Overview

A healthcare services provider is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to support its laboratory operations in Bartlesville, OK. This contract role, with potential for permanent placement, plays a key part in ensuring accurate specimen collection and patient care within a fast-paced clinical setting.

What you'll do
