SPG is seeking a Phlebotomist for a contract-on-site role in Bartlesville, OK, working the 3rd shift (6:30pm–7:00am) with rotating weekends. The position focuses on accurate specimen collection, labeling, and processing to support timely patient diagnostics.

The role requires a valid phlebotomy certification (where required by state), at least 6 months venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting, and proficiency with MS Office. Benefits are available.

Responsibilities

  • Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data and decontamination activities
  • Update patient information and maintain accurate records
  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures
  • Explain venipuncture process and specimen collection methods to patients
  • Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and ensure accuracy
  • Package specimens for transport and store samples at required temperatures
  • Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
  • Attend annual department trainings
  • Answer telephone calls and provide laboratory results to inquiries

Overview

A healthcare services organization is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join its laboratory team on a contract basis for a projected duration of 3 months. This role is essential to ensuring accurate specimen collection and processing that supports timely and reliable patient diagnostics.

What you'll do
  • Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data and decontamination activities
  • Update patient information and maintain accurate records
  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures
  • Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods (e.g., urine or fecal) as required
  • Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles
  • Fully understand and follow physicians' orders
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order
  • Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy
  • Package specimens for transport, store samples at required temperatures, and follow protocol-specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity
  • Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
  • Attend annual department trainings
  • Answer telephone calls and provide laboratory results to satisfy inquiries
Required qualifications
  • Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required in some states
  • Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • High School Diploma or GED
