Job summary

Talentify is seeking a Phlebotomist for our Vancouver, WA location. The role requires performing phlebotomy procedures, labeling and processing specimens, and ensuring accurate handling of test orders under the supervision of a clinical laboratory team.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting, with WA State Phlebotomy License and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• WA State Phlebotomy License required.
• High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
• Demonstrate phlebotomy techniques using straight or butterfly needles.
• Understand and follow physicians' orders for each patient.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes accurately.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Verify test requisitions against scripts for 100% accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport and maintain proper temperature during storage.
• Comply with OSHA/DEP regulations and attend annual trainings.
• Answer calls and read laboratory results to respond to inquiries.

Job description

Our client, a Clinical Laboratory company, is looking for a Phlebotomist for their Vancouver, WA location.
Responsibilities:

• Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as required.


• Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.


• Fully understand all of the physicians' orders.


• Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.


• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.


• Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct.


• Package specimens for transport. Stores specimen sample according to required temperature, places samples in appropriate collection container/ tube, accurately labels, follows different procedures as outlined by specific to protocol deemed necessary for transport to maintain integrity of the specimen.


• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.


• Attend annual department trainings.


• Answer telephone calls, read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Requirements

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.


• Minimum of 2 years work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.


• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.


• High School Diploma or GED


• Required Certifications: WA State Phlebotomy License
