Summary of Job Duties: The Phlebotomist will be responsible for the following duties: Operate centralized computer system and LIS in the laboratory; Verify patient identity and test(s) to be performed prior to specimen collection; Accurately collect and process appropriate patient samples for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease; Track specimens per PWHC protocol (labeling, processing via practice management system, etc.; Follow universal precautions as defined in the policy for the collection and disposal of specimens; Perform basic waived testing; Utilize good hand-washing and wear protective equipment as appropriate; Maintain a clean work/lab draw area; Maintain medical equipment such as needles, test tubes, and blood vials; Dispose of sharps and bio-hazardous materials per protocol; Adhere to all HIPAA/confidentiality policies, procedures and regulations.

Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
