Job summary

HNL Lab Medicine is seeking a patient-focused staff member in Trexlertown to collect clinical specimens and assist with registration and order verification. You will perform venipunctures and other specimen collections under general supervision and help with routine testing and logistics at the site.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED and related experience; BLS certification may be needed. The job includes some travel within 25 miles and per diem opportunities as needed to cover

• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively; bilingual Spanish proficiency may be required depending on location.
• Basic Life Support certification required or provided if needed.

Responsibilities

• Collect clinical laboratory specimens and assist with patient registration and order entry.
• Perform venipunctures and collect other specimens following proper procedures.
• Process, store, and transport specimens according to lab requirements.
• Provide logistics support and customer assistance; maintain clean work area and inventory.

Work Schedule:Monday through Friday 550am to 630pm. Everyother Saturday 7am to 12pmCollects clinical laboratory specimens and performs tasks associated with patient registration, order entry and specimen processing with general supervision. Performs waived testing with general supervision. Provides logistical support to team members and general assistance to customers.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Performs venipunctures. Collects other specimens and explains the proper collection procedures for specimens provided by the patient. Clarifies orders and pre-analytical test requirements when appropriate.Performs registration; requisitions lab orders and verifies billing information.Process, store, and transport specimens according to the laboratory requirements.Actively promotes HNL Lab Medicine’s values and exhibits excellent customer relations in anticipating customer needs in all interactions.Maintains up-to-date knowledge of changes in specimen requirements and collection devices.Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and ensures a meticulous work area.Assists in the orientation, training, and mentoring new staff members.Participates in the Continuous Service Improvement and continuing education programs.Properly records and documents necessary expense reimbursement (Mileage Reimbursement) following established electronic processes.Provides on-call and mobile service as required.Required to travel to sites within 25 miles other than base location as needed for coverage.Per Diem: Per diem work is determined by the departments need and the employee’s availability.
