Job summary

1046 Health Network Laboratories LLC in Quakertown is looking for a Clinical Laboratory Technician to assist in collecting specimens and performing patient registration tasks. This position requires effective communication and teamwork, flexibility for per diem work, and knowledge of laboratory specifications.

The ideal candidate must have a high school diploma or GED and preferably some experience in a clinical setting. You will maintain excellent customer relations and adhere to the highest standards of service.

  • Mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Job description

Work Schedule

Sunday and Saturday hours needed, additional hours needed Mon-Fri. Collects clinical laboratory specimens and performs tasks associated with patient registration, order entry and specimen processing with general supervision. Performs waived testing with general supervision. Provides logistical support to team members and general assistance to customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform venipunctures.
  • Collect other specimens and explain proper collection procedures.
  • Clarify orders and pre-analytical test requirements when appropriate.
  • Perform registration; requisition lab orders and verify billing information.
  • Process, store, and transport specimens according to the laboratory requirements.
  • Actively promote HNL Lab Medicine’s values and exhibit excellent customer relations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in specimen requirements and collection devices.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of supplies and ensure a meticulous work area.
  • Assist in the orientation, training, and mentoring of new staff members.
  • Participate in the Continuous Service Improvement and continuing education programs.
  • Properly record and document necessary expense reimbursement (Mileage Reimbursement) following established electronic processes.
  • Provide on-call and mobile service as required.
  • Travel to sites within 25 miles other than base location as needed for coverage.
  • Per diem work is determined by the department’s need and the employee’s availability.
  • Flexibility is an expectation of the per diem position.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED; and 6 months to 2 years related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Bilingual and able to read, write and speak Spanish proficiently may be required based on service location.
  • Math ability: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Compute rate, ratio and percent, and draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning ability: apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer skills: knowledge of Word Processing software.
Certification and Licenses

Must have access to reliable transportation. Certification required by the American Heart Association for Basic Life Support to include adult, child and infant. Certification will be provided if needed.
