Job summary

Saint Joseph Health System in Plymouth, IN is seeking a Phlebotomist for a full-time day shift. You will obtain blood and other specimens, verify patient IDs, and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis in accordance with established aseptic techniques.

Requirements include a HS Diploma or GED, with postsecondary phlebotomy training preferred, and ASCP PBT certification or equivalent preferred. At least one year of experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required; post-HS phlebotomy training preferred.
• PBT (ASCP) certification or equivalent preferred.
• At least one year of phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain blood and other specimens according to physician orders.
• Verify patient identification and prepare skin sites.
• Perform venipunctures using aseptic technique and label specimens.
• Transport specimens to Laboratory for analysis.

About The Job

The Phlebotomist is responsible for obtaining blood and other specimens for laboratory testing according to physician's orders. Obtains needed supplies, verifies patient Identification, prepares skin site and performs venipunctures according to established aseptic techniques. Labels specimen and transport it to Laboratory for analysis.

Requirements

• Education: HS Diploma or GED equivalent. Post HS education through accredited phlebotomy training program preferred
• Licensure: PBT (ASCP) Certification or equivalent preferred Experience: At least one year of experience preferred.
