Job summary

Saint Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Phlebotomist to obtain and prepare specimens for analysis, supporting outpatient and inpatient services across departments. You will work under the Phlebotomy Supervisor, using a wireless handheld computer to ensure patient safety and uphold the mission of Saint Joseph's.

The role requires completion of an accredited phlebotomy program and national certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS).

Responsibilities

• Collect or receive specimens for testing.
• Prepare specimens and maintain accurate records.
• Label specimens and send to other departments as needed.
• Maintain clean and organized lab area.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As ourPhlebotomist, you will helpthe Laboratory obtain and/or prepare specimens for analysisso they canprovide accurate laboratory services vital for outpatient, inpatient, surgery, and emergency department patients.

Every day you willwork under the direct supervision of the Phlebotomy Supervisor, obtaining and/or preparing specimens for analysis.You will be expected touse a state-of-the-art wireless handheld computer to ensure patient safetyandactively participate in fulfilling the Mission of Dignity Health.

To be successful in this role, you mustbe a dynamic Phlebotomist who is passionate about the health and well-being of our patientsandhave completed an accredited phlebotomy program (with national certification being preferred).

• Collect or receive samples of fluids or tissues. Determine if the quality and quantity are sufficient for testing.
• Use the lab equipment or chemicals to prepare the samples for testing.
• Perform the required tests on the samples. Keep accurate records. Label the specimens appropriately and send them to other departments as needed.
• Clean and maintain the lab equipment and the lab area throughout each shift.
• Run periodic quality control procedures on the equipment, under your supervisor’s guidance.
• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
• Be respectful, kind and helpful to your colleagues as we work together to create a productive lab environment.

Job Requirements

Required

• High School diploma or equivalent
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CT CPRBLS)

Preferred

• Previous experience in a health-related field
• Phlebotomy Cert
