Job summary

Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Phlebotomist for a full-time role with varied shifts and rotating weekends and holidays. You will collect specimens, label them correctly, and work closely with laboratory staff to ensure accurate, timely testing while upholding our CARING values and patient comfort.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid PA motor vehicle license may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Must work closely with all laboratory staff regarding collection, receipt, and processing of specimens in inpatient, outpatient, and outreach locations.
  • Courteous and professional interaction with patients, physicians, nurses, and hospital personnel using CARING values.
  • Responsible for proper collection of specimens in accordance with Laboratory procedures and patient comfort.
  • Follows hospital Standard Precautions (PPE, gloving, hand washing).
  • Identify patients using two identifiers and label specimens correctly.
  • Select appropriate collection supplies for venipuncture, arterial, and capillary puncture per procedure manual.

How You'll Contribute

A Phlebotomist who excels in this role:

  • Must work closely with all laboratory staff regarding collection, receipt, and processing of specimens in the inpatient, outpatient, and outreach locations.
  • Courteous and professional interaction with our patients, physicians, nurses, and other hospital personnel using our CARING values.
  • Responsible for the proper collection of specimens in a manner consistent with Laboratory procedures, safe practices, and patient comfort.
  • Follows all hospital guidelines regarding Standard Precautions (ex. PPE, gloving, hand washing, etc.)
  • Must identify patients using two patient identifiers and label specimens accurately.
  • Selects the appropriate specimen collection supplies/devices (ex. tubes, proper additives, etc. in order to perform venipuncture, arterial puncture, and capillary puncture according to the Laboratory's Phlebotomy/Specimen Collection procedure manual.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should possess a high school graduate or G.E.D. equivalency. Additional requirements include:
