Healthier Mississippi People is seeking a phlebotomist to perform venipuncture and collect blood samples for laboratory procedures used in diagnosis and treatment. The role may require on-call duties at the department's discretion.
Responsibilities include patient interaction, specimen processing, labeling, and storage, as well as inventory management and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
To perform a variety of venipuncture techniques and collect and process blood specimens from patients in support of laboratory procedures used in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. This job profile may require call subject to the department's discretion.
Knowledge of blood processing and handling procedures. Knowledge of relevant clinical and patient care regulations, policies, procedures, and standards. Knowledge of infection control and sterile procedures. Interpersonal skills to allay pay patient fears and interact with staff. Ability to perform standard phlebotomy procedures and techniques. Ability to comply with clinical protocol, specifications, and procedures. Ability to complete and maintain documents and records.
Requires occasional bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds, occasional climbing, occasional crawling, occasional crouching/stooping, occasional kneeling, occasional pushing/pulling, occasional reaching, occasional sitting, constant standing, occasional twisting, and occasional walking. (occasional-up to 20%, frequent-from 21% to 50%, constant-51% or more)
